Human, not Algorithm

The blogger tool that I'm using says start making your post, but I feel it is more than that.

I've just finished watching the social dilemma on Netflix about the effects of social media platforms on people.

My take from this documentary is that in the computer Vs human world, the human cannot compete.

Algorithms running on thousands of computers are outsmarting users of Facebook and presenting distorted views of reality. They are causing individuals, especially young people to become depressed because they cannot compete.

My vision is to create a world that allows us humans to thrive. To be creative and not bamboozled by AI.

Another problem is advertising and commercialisation. You and your friends and family are being sucked into being a puppet for corporations to buy your time. You are not getting paid. Facebook is and you are providing the asset for sale. Your time.

So this is the first step in creating a new version of the world \ the internet where people create and choose content as part of a community.

Algorithms have failed in at least 2 ways this year.
1. Algorithms were used to model students GCSE results. The UK government had to U turn because the algorithm was unfair. It favoured private schools.

2.Algorithms became unpopular so they were renamed models. Unfortunately a coronavirus model that used out of date data resulted in further embarrassment for the UK government.

Models / AI / Algorithms used by commercial organisations do not have an individual's interests at heart.

As a parent of a child with mental health issues I can relate to the problems caused my algorithmic social media pumping messages and falsehoods to individuals.

I am working on tools that empower humans to move forward in a safe environment, free or at least informed of algorithms around them.

I invite you to take part and join.
The next steps are to send me a message and I will invite you to our private group where you will receive private messages on how to get involved with this new world of human choices rather than forced AI adverts.
